SECOND ANNUAL PERSHING SQUARE SOHN RETREAT
On Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018, the Pershing Square Sohn Cancer Research Alliance held its Second Annual Pershing Square Sohn Retreat in Nicholls-Biondi Hall at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in Long Island.
The Retreat gave the 2015 Pershing Square Sohn Prize winners, who had just finished their final year of funding, the chance to present their work performed over the past three years to their peers and mentors. This was a unique and exclusive opportunity to experience cutting-edge cancer research by highly innovative scientists. The day also contained discussions with accomplished scientific leaders and members of PSSCRA’s Scientific Review Council: David Tuveson, MD, PhD, the Roy J. Zuckerberg Professor of Cancer Research and Director of the Cancer Center at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, and Bruce Zetter, PhD, the Charles Nowiszewski Professor of Cancer Biology at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The event concluded with a panel discussion and Q&A session around IP and Commercializing Research, featuring Sadhana Chitale, PhD, Director of Life Sciences and Technology Transfer in the Office of Industrial Liaison at New York University School of Medicine, and Andrew Whiteley, Vice President of Business Development and Technology Transfer at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The panel was moderated by 2017 Prize winner Daniel Heller, PhD, an Associate Member at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Goldilocks Therapeutics.
A networking reception in the lobby of Grace Hall followed. Attendees included 2014-2018 Pershing Square Sohn Prize winners, members of PSSCRA’s Scientific Review Council, and select foundation and industry guests.
